Mani Kambo’s residency ran from May 8th – May 14th 2017.
Inhabiting our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts, her output focused on moving image and documentation.
Her biography spoke of how she focuses her practice on objects, routines and rituals, distilled from the everyday and mythology. Often using mosaic tile designs, roman pottery, serpents and tarot cards, she is deeply inspired by symbolism and history.
She produced work that highlights how her practice is always fluctuating and raises her interest in story telling. Her Instagram stories and tweets gave us a look at the in-between spaces of her working day; potato waffles on a Go North East bus, shifts at an outside pavilion and notepad doodles.
This residency was vital for her critical development, allowing her to manipulate the Internets constant flow of information and explore the repetitious behavior, mutual posting on platforms creates.
